Cartel Gunmen Kidnap Teens in Jalisco, Mexico, Force One to Beat Friend to Death
A group of cartel gunmen in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, kidnapped five teenagers and forced at least one of them to brutally beat, stab, and kill one of his friends for sport. The incident occurred in an area known as El Mirador in Lagos de Moreno and was part of a series of mass kidnappings and terrorist attacks in the region, including explosive assaults against police. Authorities discovered evidence of the crime including zip ties, blood, and a burned vehicle containing human remains. The cartel further terrorized the community by leaking images and videos of the captured and tortured teens on social media. The incident highlights the escalating violence and brutality of cartels in the region, leading state officials to classify some of the acts as terrorist attacks. Jalisco's Governor Enrique Alfaro publicly claimed the use of explosive devices by cartels in a July attack that killed six police officers and injured 12 others as a terrorist attack.
