Deadly Ambush on Mexican Soldiers by Cartel Gunmen

In a lethal ambush near Teocaltiche, Jalisco, cartel gunmen killed three Mexican army soldiers. The attack involved an armored truck and several other vehicles. During the assault, the assailants established multiple blockades in the region, causing chaos and violence. Although government officials initially did not acknowledge any fatalities, unofficial reports indicate three soldiers were killed and at least two more injured. The gunmen responsible for this ambush are believed to be either from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) or their rivals, the Sinaloa Cartel. This incident closely follows the release of Ruben “El Laminas” Guerrero, the son of CJNG regional leader Heraclio “Tio Lako” Guerrero, under pressure from cartel forces. Notably, this release occurred after a government raid at Heraclio's ranch, where authorities found exotic animals but did not arrest him despite his U.S. federal drug conspiracy charges. Adding to the tension, banners by Los Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, appeared in Teocaltiche, claiming responsibility for the attack and accusing military forces of corruption. This incident underscores the growing violence and complexity of cartel operations in Mexico.
