U.S. Tourists Attacked by Cartel Gunmen in Mexico Near Texas Border

A group of nearly 20 American tourists were violently attacked by cartel gunmen after crossing into Mexico from Texas. The assault took place in the town of Los Guerra, Tamaulipas, just south of the Texas border. The tourists were en route to the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi and were traveling in a convoy. The gunmen, believed to be from the Gulf Cartel, used a makeshift armored vehicle to ram the tourists' cars and subsequently opened fire on them. Authorities suspect that the cartel gunmen mistook the tourists for rival gang members or police. Seven of the tourists sustained injuries and were rushed to a U.S. port of entry where they received medical attention before being transported to local hospitals. This incident adds to the growing concern over the Gulf Cartel’s violent activities, which include turf wars, attacks on tourists, kidnappings, and extortions.
