Flubromazolam, a New Benzodiazepine, May Be the Next Big Problem
Flubromazolam Hits the Streets
A recent submission to an East Coast crime lab showed the presence of Flubromazolam. This drug is a benzodiazepine (CNS Depressant) and is extremely potent. A dosage unit is measured in micrograms, not milligrams as is common in most street drugs.
Flubromazolam was Disguised as Generic Alprazolam
The drug was seized during an investigation and was pressed into a pill that resembled generic Alprazolam. This is a common tactic among drug distributors where they will obtain the wanted drug in a powder form and then press it into a pill that resembles a common controlled pharmaceutical. I outlined this in a prior article that can be viewed here.
A pro-drug web site described Flubromazolam this way:
Flubromazolam is a novel synthetic depressant substance of the benzodiazepine class which produces anxiolytic, disinhibiting, sedative, muscle relaxant, and memory suppressing effects when administered. It is incredibly potent (active in the microgram range) with an unusually long 18 hour duration. It is currently exclusively sold by online research chemical vendors for use as a recreational psychoactive substance and has not been formally studied.
