See the Latest Fentanyl Awareness Video for First Responders
California POST came out with a great new training video outlining the dangers of fentanyl for first responders (police/fire/EMS). I consulted with POST on this video and was there for pre and post video production. The video is an accurate portrayal of how an officer can contaminate himself with fentanyl and how he can pass that contamination on to others.

Behind the Scenes of the Fentanyl Video
There were a few experts involved in this video including Graves and Associates instructor Devin Chase and Seth Cimino. We met in Sacramento at the Lavish California POST headquarters with other fentanyl experts including chemists, toxicologists, EMS professionals and evidence experts. We talked about the real threats about fentanyl and how officers may become contaminated.
Based Off Real Events
In the beginning of the video, you'll see an officer that contaminates himself by getting fentanyl on his uniform. This is a real event that occurred to a midwest police officer. Although the contamination that happens later down the road is fictional, it is meant to bring awareness to the potential hazards.
Our intention was to make officers and other first responders realize that we can still do our job, but we need to change some of the things we have always done during some drug related incidents. Our intention wasn't to make officers paranoid, merely to make them think about potential hazards and to think about mitigating those hazards.
Officers Need More Fentanyl Safety Training
In the end, we all agreed that officers need to have solid fentanyl safety training to protect themselves while doing their jobs. If you need fentanyl safety training, you can get it online, or you can get live classroom training presented at your agency. This training can be presented in 2, 4 or 8 hour formats and has been presented across the country.
