Fentanyl Now Being Found in Crack Cocaine
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is reporting that they are seeing a spike in hospital admissions where the patient used fentanyl laced crack cocaine. I recently wrote about officers in the field reporting fentanyl laced powdered cocaine in Florida. Now we are seeing it across the country. It was just a matter of time before we would find it in crack cocaine. Officers throughout the US have found fentanyl spiked in almost every drug imaginable. They have found it in methamphetamine, ketamine, "Spice" (synthetic cannabinoids), "Bath Salts" (synthetic cathinones), cocaine and reportedly in cannabis.

What Happened in a 4 Day Period in Pittsburgh
In just a 4 day period, the hospital treated 18 patients for an overdose of fentanyl laced crack cocaine. Three of those patients died from the overdose. So what is crack cocaine? Crack cocaine is a more pure form of cocaine. Dealers will put a ration of 4:1 or 3:1 of cocaine to baking soda. That mixture is poured into a beaker and distilled water will be added (I have also seen other liquids used including 7Up). The mixture is heated and the cocaine will separate. You now have a purer form of cocaine than you did before. It is more than likely that the fentanyl is already in the cocaine when it is converted to crack.
