Fentanyl Being Found Looks Like Tar Heroin
It Contains NO Tar Heroin
Police officers and Detectives have been encountering fentanyl that is disguised as tar heroin. Oftentimes, we run across heroin that has had fentanyl added to it. However, these samples contain no heroin at all; just fentanyl. This is not an isolated event. While attending a meeting at California POST on fentanyl safety, I met criminalists who had multiple submissions like the photo below that turned out to be fentanyl only.
This is fentanyl and contains no heroin.
The implications for this are harrowing. This is a good reminder for officers to handle all drugs as if they contain fentanyl and to stop field testing drugs. If you need training in fentanyl safety procedures, check out our online training on fentanyl safety for first responders.
